Description
Cross the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tichka Pass (2,260m) to reach the Ait Benhaddou kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and backdrop for legendary films such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones and Lawrence of Arabia.
This ochre-red mud fortress clinging to the hillside is one of Morocco's most iconic images. Walk its narrow lanes, climb to the top for a panoramic view, and discover how Berber families still live in parts of the kasbah.
The excursion continues to Ouarzazate, nicknamed "the gateway to the desert" and "Morocco's Hollywood" for its film studios where hundreds of international productions have been shot.
